I have not mounted the drive, perhaps I should. My Pi 4B 'sees' the USB 3.0 port that it is plugged into so I have not mounted it. All that shows up with "mount" is the micro ssd on my pi.I use LibreOffice all the time on Pi400s and Pi5 and even occasionally on Pi3.
It works fine on all of them.
I agree with Thagrol. Let's try to address the actual problem with accessing your data, rather than abandoning a tried and trusted office suite.
Can you mount the drive at all?
does it show up if you type "mount"
Then let's try a simple "ls -l" of the files on that drive...Can you actually see them?
