It would be more encouraging if there were reports that this issue could also be reproduced in other Pico W devices!

It would but the ability to reproduce the issue is somewhat limited by needing -

• A host with non-dumb USB-C sockets
• A USB-C to micro-USB cable
• A means of powering via VSYS
• A Pico W

That first will likely exclude a lot of people who would otherwise be willing and able to help.

As there seems to be prima facie evidence of an issue, and a potential solution or workround, you could perhaps raise a bug report against Pico SDK which might get someone in Raspberry Pi to take a look at it, investigate further.
