PCIe 4 SSDs use more power than PCIe 3 SSDs when running at full speed. I have not looked at the power requirement for PCIe 4 SSDs or PCIe 3 SSDs running at PCIe 2 speed. I have my Pi 5 jacked up to PCIe 3 and, judging by the lack of heat in the Samsung 1 TB PCIe 3 SSD, there is very little power usage.

When running with some sort of random use, one SSD could drop to a lower power state. In parallel, RAID 1, 5, etc, both would peak together.

Samsung and some other brands have models that are more power efficient when compared to everything else including other models in the same brand. I do not see useful power comparisons online.
