Troubleshooting • Re: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS 64 bit won't run on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W - why is it in the imager's menu?

I've been trying to run Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Server on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. It's in the menu for the device, so I assumed it has been tested. It turns out that it won't run - it flashes the LED a couple of times and shuts down. According to the Ubuntu documentation, it requires at leat 1 GB of RAM:

https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/system-requirements

So IMHO it needs to be removed from that menu; people will see it and waste their time trying to get it going.

Talking about it here is unlikely to get anything done.

By reference to https://github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-imager/issues/858 it seems that a Canonical Developer known as @waveform80 (both on GitHub and in these forums) is possibly the key player here.
