Troubleshooting • Re: Raspberry Pi Model 4 as USB Storage Device

I am lost. In the provided Guide, its mentioned that If you must have USB connected storage that has safe simultaneous write access from both sides of the USB link, use the ethernet gadget and run a samba server on the zero.
The 4B can do this but there is little point in it.
What is that Point?
I am using img file for usb storage. Do I need to user a partition ? How can I partition my Raspberry Pi install MSD ? How can I achieve it?
What is that I am missing?
I appreciate if you can guide me on this.

The point is that this is about the only safe way to get simultaneous write access from both sides. If you go this route you'd ditch the .img file and the mass storage gadget then run the ethernet gadget and a Samba server sharing a directory on the Pi.

Of course, the USB host has to support that. For details on why it doesn't wotk the way you, me, and others want it to see section 3 of my guide.
