I think you make a wrong assumption here...EDIT: I just had a look at this file which lists all the packages included in the IMG. In this case, the IMG is 2024-07-04 Lite 64-bit. In that file, it lists:As you can see, it's already the latest version. So, please go back and check what exact IMG you're installing because there appears to be no way that you can hold back the update in this IMG, since it's already there.Code:
ii firmware-brcm80211 1:20230625-2+rpt2 all Binary firmware for Broadcom/Cypress 802.11 wireless cards
In the last image that works for me and others on their wifi network is 2022-04 bullseye release, that I manually upgraded to bookworm, holding back upgrading the firmware-brcm80211 package, I asked what is "upgradable".
This response means I am currently using firmware-brcm80211 from 20221012 and I could upgrade to the latest included one which is from 20230625.pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt list --upgradable
Listing... Done
firmware-brcm80211/stable,stable 1:20230625-2+rpt2 all [upgradable from: 1:20221012-1~bpo11+1+rpt1]
N: There are 2 additional versions. Please use the '-a' switch to see them.
If I do the upgrade, the wifi will no longer work.
I read some of the other posts and it seems wifi may work if I would use an open network (not secured), and I noticed the key handshake failure, so it must be linked to that. Obviously an open wifi network is not an option for me.
So either you use an open network or it is the mikrotik way of doing the handshake that is more strict than yours and other devices.
But as already mentioned, it does work with previous driver and I have no other device on my wifi network that has that issue, which for me concludes there is an error in that firmware the way he does the key handshake.
