A pull-up to 3V3 and a short to 0V button - very common, and as far as the errata says it works
What the errata says and what people are reporting seems rather at odds.
or vice-versa - uncommon. I've been in the industry since the late 60s and the only place I can think it would be used is a multiplexed n x m switch array. In any case, I never trust the internal pull-ups/pull-downs in MCUs, they rarely sink/source the current you want. 0402 resisters are a tenth of a cent so add one.
School kids, hobbyists, makers, do it all the time and rarely have problems.
Works on every microcontroller I have ever used including the RP2040. It should work perfectly fine with the RP235X but apparently doesn't.
So don't use it then.
That does seem to be the consensus doing the rounds.
