Just out of curiosity, what format (filesystem) did/does the USB stick have? (I.e., what format did it get at the factory?)


These days, things seem to be coming from the factory in exFAT. That's not such a bad choice. But you will have to install the exFAT drivers on Linux (Easy to do, but they are not, AFAIK, there by default).

Personally, I like NTFS as the universal file system - but that might not be for everyone.

Some people on the forum will suggest formatting the stick to EXT4 or some other Linux FS, but that then requires drivers to be installed on the Windows side - which is something I always try to avoid if at all possible.

Finally, though, the real point should be that it would probably be better all around if you used the network to move the files around instead of "sneaker-net-ing" it.
