Thanks all, that is super informative!

Apologies, when i mentioned sending the green wire to ground, that was with a 5k1 resistor. I must have been excited and missed the details.

I think I'll chuck on a variable resistor and some multimeters and see if there is a resistance that gives 5v rather than 10.

I cannot help it though, I'm still a bit annoyed at engineers for building this PSU. their older supply is 5v 3a only. This new supply caters to other voltages and outputs as per any other usb PSU (only with the exceptional 5A of 5v) but it didnt need the other voltages for the PI.

I know they had to meet other standards etc but in the spirit of hackability I just wish there was an easy way to "lock on" the 5v 5a output for other uses.

OR, I wish they could provide access to an additional PD board which would sit between your device and the PSU's output and provide configurable voltage and amp output. :-( it would just make them such a fantastic value oriented supply.

Right now I believe the Pi5 is the only device that exists which uses 5v 5A so none of the aftermarket PD controllers are capable of requesting it.
