Hello,
First of all, thank you for your help.
thagrol and DirkS.
I must point out that the change Thagrol has suggested in fstab, adding the parameters
,nofail,x-systemd.automount
has resolved the issue.
What remains to be understood is the reason for the problem…
I had a backup of the fstab file, which I restored (before adding the parameters), and the problem persisted.
This makes me think that whatever triggered the issue wasn't related to the change I made in fstab, but rather something prior.
As far as I can recall, the only things I did were an update (apt update)and creating an SD card backup using the Raspberry OS application.
One of those two things must have broken something, and it only became evident when I rebooted to verify that the USB drive was mounting correctly.
In any case, I suppose I'll never really know what happened.
Regarding the use of NTFS, as you already mentioned, the project will include an external SSD with videos and audio formatted as NTFS, which will be shared on the home network. It must be accessible by Windows machines, and that is the reason for using NTFS.
Anyway, thank you both very much, and congratulations on the fantastic zip file with all the information about fstab.
Best regards!!
