By that point you may as well just get an i2c light sensor setup like the BH1750, it only a couple of pounds, or about £5 delivered for 5 from AliExpress.That would still need accurate pulse counting, something Raspberry Pi OS isn't good atOr a TSL230 light-to-frequency converter.
Gives you a nice LUX reading.
