How is your experience in Mosquitto broker and Paho python client?

Which client for Pico Micropython? Is umqtt.simple good?

Excellent experience for me - have had Mosquitto (quite an old version, now) working solidly for something like 8-9 years now. No more than one Mosquitto-derived problem in that time. System includes some Pi2 or Pi3 using the Python Paho client.
My system includes a version of weewx weather station software with a slight adaptation to send readings every 2 seconds using MQTT.
No idea on Pico, though.

(Reluctant to upgrade the system, since it "just works")
