Troubleshooting • Re: Ubuntu Server Can't Install Anything

Brand new Raspberry Pi 5, fresh Ubuntu server 24.04.1 LTS 64-bit install. I get this output whenever I try to install any packages or even run sudo apt upgrade.

Code:

update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-6.8.0-51-genericUsing DTB: bcm2712-rpi-5-b.dtbCouldn't find DTB bcm2712-rpi-5-b.dtb on the following paths: /etc/flash-kernel/dtbs /usr/lib/linux-image-6.8.0-51-generic /lib/firmware/6.8.0-51-generic/device-tree/Installing into /boot/dtbs/6.8.0-51-generic/./bcm2712-rpi-5-b.dtbcp: cannot stat '': No such file or directoryrun-parts: /etc/initramfs/post-update.d//flash-kernel exited with return code 1run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools exited with return code 1dpkg: error processing package linux-image-6.8.0-51-generic (--configure): installed linux-image-6.8.0-51-generic package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1Errors were encountered while processing: linux-image-6.8.0-51-genericneedrestart is being skipped since dpkg has failedE: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I have no idea what to do. Please help.
why are you trying to install a generic kernel
the default kernel is the 1 for rpi5
you can't just use any kernel, you need the 1 that supports the device your using
it should be 6.8.0-1017-raspi
