Good to hear. Myself and the director of manufacturing used to have to regularly fight off similar suggestions for reducing tests costs at a previous company.Well our testing procedure is much better that you expect ( and every company I have worked for). Every HDMI, USB and ethernet connector is tested by plugging something in. It is too easy to have a pin that is bent underneath a connector.I doubt they would test every board by plugging something in.
That's how manufacturing companies I have worked for did it. That seems SOP for consumer product.
