According to the the manual, available from:

This is clearly quite an odd printer. You cant print an information page (Test Page) until you have it connected to a computer with the driver loaded. This makes things harder. If you have a Windows Pc it might be good to prove the printer and lead work properly before you spend more time on it.

The Printer appears to be supported by HPLIP, see here:
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing

Model Name , Min. HPLIP Version, Chrome OS Support, Driver Plug-in, Support Level, Print Mode
HP Color LaserJet cp1215 Printer, 3.9.2, No, Yes, Full, Color

Scan to PC, PC Send Fax, Connectivity
No, No, USB+Network

Search for hplip on the R Pi forums

Assuming the printer works, forgive me for going back a few steps, a number of question then arise:

I am assuming that the printer can produce a colour test page properly? If it can't then the chances of getting it repaired economically is low.

Are the toner packs and other consumables still available at an appropriate cost for the OP? (possibly there is enough life in the existing consumables to satisfy the OP is only occasionally intending to print - if so ignore that one). The test page should be able to say something about remaining life)

Best of luck!
