Beginners • Is my RPi Zero 2w *dead*??

Hi all! Please consider me a noob, though I've been dabbling in Linux since free RedHat 5.2 around 1994.

I keep aquariums, and I'm trying to setup an aquarium controller system based off the Raspberry Pi Zero 2w, called Robo-Tank (runs https://reef-pi.github.io/), and is found here:
https://www.robo-tank.ca/

I have been having ongoing issues getting the controller system running, which I purchased used some time ago, including the RPi Zero 2w it came with, so keep that in mind. I was working on this a few weeks back, and after many, many attempts at loading the RPi OS and trying to access my Pi Zero via SSH, it finally worked, and I was able to download, install and finally "see" the aquarium controller software via the webserver at the IP address of my RPi Zero. You can see this post at the reef aquarium forum where I'm also a member. The other member responding to me is the owner of the Robo-Tank project:

I thought I was all set here, just waiting on some sensors and things to come. I went on a vacation, and when I came back I absolutely could not access the RPi via SSH or see the webserver anymore. Tonight, I thought I'd start with a fresh RPi OS install, which I've done now at least six times, and I simply cannot access this RPi by SSH.

Long story short, I really think my RPi Zero 2w may be damaged, and I did order a new one.

I understand that the green light on my RPi Zero 2w should be on all the time, and flicker off when the SD card is in use, like a hard drive activity light. I seem to remember that when I was fooling around with all this a few weeks ago that indeed the green light on my RPi would flicker and flash frequently as it booted.

Tonight, when I power on the RPi Zero 2w the green light comes on, it dims once *noticeably*, but then it just glows steady green. It's no longer flashing the way a hard drive activity LED would do.

I found this video and this person's RPi Zero's green light flashes randomly as it's booting at about 1:36 into the video. Mine is not doing this:

I found this post on Adafruit to test if my RPi Zero is *dead*, it suggests plugging the Pi into the USB port of a computer:

https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing- ... zero-dead2

When I do this on my Windows install I get nothing, no beeps or dings, and there doesn't appear to be a USB drive attached to the computer. When I plug my RPi Zero into my Linux Mint OS, and run sudo lsusb, I definitely get a line that says "Broadcom" and "BCM2708 Boot". I can disconnect the Pi, re-run the command, and that line is gone, so I'm fairly sure that's the Pi.

I can log into my (fairly new to me (December) and not fully setup) router, and I can see an "IoT device" that I believe is my RPi coming up and being assigned an IP. Even pointing SSH to that IP doesn't work.

I do have a concern that my new wifi router is 6E capable, and following the instructions to set it up, I made just one SSID, and now they all broadcast as my one SSID. I understand that the Pi Zero only works on 2.4 gig, and it's not clear to me how to make sure the laptop I'm on is also on the 2.4 network, but PLEASE KNOW that I did have this all working a few weeks ago, and I didn't make any changes to my router or anything else.

I'm sorry my post is so long, but I would really appreciate any help with my problem. Thanks very much in advance for your help!
