Troubleshooting • Re: RPI5 updating bootloader via SD issues

the cmdline and config are about the same for both SD cards, my 512gb card just has I2C booting up on startup.
You can try something: the FAT partition of your SD cards contain the files are initially used to start booting the operative system. As your config.txt and cmdline.txt are the same in both cards delete all the files of that FAT partition of your 512GB SD card and copy all files from the FAT partition of your new SD card to the old one. Be careful to delete only the files of the FAT partition because the ext4 partition contains your data. If you are not sure do a backup first.

After this replacement if there were some file corrupted that causes the failed boot it may be fixed.

Also you should remove the words quiet and splash from cmdline.txt to see the log messages on screen.
Taken out quiet, splash, and added video=HDMI-A-1:1024x768@60D from the other suggestion. When booting up this SD it shows the white/red config screen, but once it selects the SD to continue booting up it ends up a black screen. As far as reading the FAT32 data I can see that but not the ext4, I'm using my windows computer. If I drag and drop the FAT32 data from my other card onto the 512gb one, will it change only the FAT32 files? Or will it overwrite my ext4 files as well if I do that?
