Yes, the USB transmitters for the KBD and mouse were indeed outside. So yes. it was a a bit of surprise to me too that they should also be affected so badly. But they were....though not as badly as BT was. The KBD/Mouse were just a bit "flaky". BT was almost unusable. Using an extension cable actually made no difference. I also tried moving them to an external powered hub, but that also made no difference. But in any case, even had that worked, it wouldn't solve the bigger BT/Wifi issues.Looking at the case, it would seem such 'USB transmitters' would be outside the case when plugged-in - Is that correct ?We also had issues with the wireless keyboard and mouse. They would only work if you held them right next to the USB transmitters.
I might have expected some degradation of signal when plugged into a Pi in a metal case but I wouldn't have expected it to be that bad. Perhaps the main signal lobe of both are trying to punch through the case ? It would be interesting to know why performance is so bad.
A workaround there might be to add short USB extension leads, move the modules further from the case. That's not ideal and may not suit all installations.
Perhaps some of the same hardware that supports the USB2 ports also supports the BT/Wifi? Hence, if one is overloaded, it would probably affect the other too.
Anyhow..the easiest solution for me seems to be to use another case.
