Thank you very much for your responses. This confirmed my belief that it is a hardware problem.

The failure is getting an incorrect chip ID back from RP1.
You can actually see this earlier in the log. The expected value is:

Code:

RP1_BOOT chip ID: 0x20001927

The hardware is faulty.

How is it possible that something like that came out of the factory? As I've mentioned earlier: this is a brand new unit...

I'll try to send it back for replacement.
