(Anybody got any tips on how to remove the active cooler from a Pi 5?)

I would use fishing line or dental floss, slid under cooler, keeping tight against the underside of the heatsink and "saw" through the pads. Easier to do in the SBC is placed in a padded vice so it does not move around. Especially with the large heatsink surface I would avoid prying on the heatsink, as that will likely end in tears when you slip and damage/remove some the teeny tiny SMT components.
